Victoria Garden situated at Raikhad in Ahmedabad is an ultimate destination for peace lovers. This garden provides open space for you to relax, recreate, and rejuvenate with your friends or family members. The sweet smell of flowers, lush green lawns, green plants, little birds and statue of Queen Victoria adds life and beauty to the park. It is a place where you feel peace and escape the noisy and crowded city life. The migratory birds that flock here make the garden appealing. Couples also prefer the place.
The garden is believed to be around 200 years old and was built by the British and named after Queen Victoria. The garden measures 23,000 sqmeter in size and is considered one of the largest gardens of the city.
Interestingly, there are plans to link the garden with the Sabarmati riverfront. Giving details of the plan, another official of the department said that the garden would be developed in such a way that it can later be linked to the Sabarmati riverfront.
The restoration of the Victoria Garden will also include extension of the Ayurvedic Park inside the garden. “The Ayurvedic Park is currently so small that it is barely noticeable. We will be extending the garden to cover an area of 4,000 sqmetre,”
The garden has long been neglected and is currently in a run-down condition. However, the AMC plans to develop the Victoria Garden and landscape it in the Japanese style.
Giving details of the civic body’s plan, an official of the parks and garden department of the AMC said on the condition of anonymity that the entire garden will be landscaped in the Japanese style.
